A not so normal evening

On a friday evening, I decided to take a run through the city, running is a great excercise, and it always calms my mind whenever I have too much to think about.

I started my jog from the northern part of the town, there was a lot of hustle & bustle going around. Most of the people were with going home from their workplaces or some were on a walk with their pets, many kids around the park it's there usual evening.

I speed up and ran through a couple of alleys, there were some staircases build to avoid downhills I take couple of them and at the end when I stop to catch my breath, I was in front of a symmetrical white marble fountain it was beautiful I stood upright looking around.

I realised, I was at a crossroad a very famous one at that, in a very famous part of the town. Although, the reasons for it being famous were hardly ever in a positive sentence.

The only thing that seems clean here is the marble fountain, other than that there's not a single place that's free from some kind of stain, loud matellic sound can be heard coming from the club, some announcement about a street fight were coming from a vintage looking speaker the buzz was high in the air of downtown.

There were a bunch of people gathered around the corner of the street trying to fix the street lamp, lots of wires were in coils that looked like it would take eternity to seperate them.

There was an elderly latin women selling flowers, it was fun to watch her explain the importance of each flower to the customers and turn down all the bargainers, It wasn't bad, different but not bad.

At the centre of the street was a bar that looked like it came out from a eightey's movie Freddie's beer were written on the board the whole vibe was realistic and cool.

I was standing there contemplating, should I go inside to grab some beer or not, when an expensive looking black limousine pulled up at the centre of the street.

For a second everyone's attention snapped towards it, including mine it didn't take a genius to figure out it didn't belong here after some seconds everyone eventually turned back towards their work.

I was going to do the same when I saw
two man come out from the back doors dressed in crisp black suits,
I recognised the second one coming out from the backseat.

He stood strong, his face was set in a displeased scowl he had black hairs a straight nose and prominent features, even though he's in his sixties he doesn't look a day older than 40 had to give the guy some credits he had kept it well.

"No way.. you didn't make us drive for two hours tto - to come here!?" He yelled at his companion.

"Don't whine Torres the reason we are late is not me but the crappy road I wonder who got the tender for this, and beside that this place is quite famous, I've wanted to check it out for quite some time" the former replied calmly.

Mr. Torres just snorted "oh common they did what they can do the reason why this place is crappy is because of those pest that live here. Look around you know what area is that right" he asked.

"I know I've heard about this place it held both cultural and social importance in Maryland it has a great history you can see the remnants of Victorian era everywhere around the town..." He replied looking around.

"I'm just shocked that it is in such a bad condition" he stated waving his hand around.

"It's because of the people that live here you are a businessman you don't know these things, but this area is the worst part of the city the crime rate here is skyrocketing they basically made it a slum the officials are only right to advert their focus from here" he explained.

"And, for the last time I'm saying that I'm not going in there I don't want to catch any diseases" he stated sternly scowling at the rustic exterior.

"Alright then stay here and enjoy the rest of your evening" he said disappointment leaking from his voice.

"I'll be enjoying it more than you anyway, good luck in there" he was staring at the bar in horror the man just waved at him and walked inside.

And i though it was about time I let myself known Mr. Torres was standing straight like a stick avoiding any kind of contact from anything, it was like he was sure he would catch some infectious disease by just standing there.

I snorted at his behaviour, if that's mortification for him, then he has a hell lot of it coming his way. I walked upto him.

"Mr. Torres?"

Suprised he turned my way looking at me up and down noticing my jogging attire he frowned and asked.

"Do I know you?"

"No, but I know you, anyway I know it's rude to eavesdrop but I caught a whiff of your conversation. Something about this crappy part of town and pest like people do you really believe that?" I asked curiously.

He looked at my facial expression, probably wondering what I'm thinking? but then his raw instincts kicked in, and he opened his mouth practically vomiting all the words that shows his great displeasure towards this particular part of the town.

"You wouldn't have any idea what these people have done they are fucking criminals all of them should rott in the cells all of them" he was blabbaring on and on about the said people. And I can tell he was enjoying it he enjoyed cursing them, somehow it serves his ego.

"Even the childrens, sir?" I  asked faking innocence.

"Why not I'm sure just like their parents they will become criminals one day too it will be better to catch them before they can do it" he explained proudly and I realised I had to finish this soon.

"Well sir as you can see.." I started motioning my hand towards the street lamp that still hasn't lit up yet "there still seems to be problems in basic necessities, what kind of development is this? while the whole city illuminates with light, this part of the town is drowned in darkness this doesn't seem fair" I questioned batting my eyelashes looking confused.

"So what that's pretty common, and I think they deserve it, they deserve to be in dark" he has the audacity to laugh.

"But it isn't your responsibility, to make sure everyone has the basic necessities. You are afterall the senator" my voice was hard all sense of humour leaving me completely.

"What are you getting at?" He questioned.

I took a step closer "isn't this place comes under your province"

His face become serious all of a sudden, the air getting tense he was going to say something but I cut him off.

"And by the looks of it, it seems the condition of this place is all your doing isn't it?" I dared him.

"So...." He smirked "what are you going to do? what can you even do?" his tone changed suddenly from playful to threatening.

"You know who I'm right" yeah it was clear as the day he was threatening me by this point because of his so called status.

"Yeah.. I do know who you are" I started then I stand on the tips of my toes and whispered closer to his ear "But they don't."

Before he could comprehend what I meant I announced in a high pitched voice "Fellas!!! You wouldn't believe who is here to meet you all Mr. Antonio Torres our own senator!!!" I clapped excitedly.

"Bastardo!!! A loud roar came from the side and I saw the Latin women jump up racing towards the senator, cursing in Spanish about how the water facility never works and then all hell broke loose.

Everyone, every single one of them, surrounded the senator asking questions, demanding their answers, shoving him around and what not? and the look of pure horror that graced his features, was something I would like to record and play on repeat in the parliament. It isn't much, but it is something he truly deserved.
